what can I recycle?

NEWS

Some changes are happening right now. We are buying a baler to help us cut our transportation costs and allow us to hold more material in the trailers. When the market for recyclable materials starts to bounce back, we may be able to get better prices for our baled product.

Since we are in a "down-turned-economy" it would help if all of our members were able to recruit one more member to join before Earth Day, April 22. We have about 800 members now and want to be well over a 1000 for this year. Talk it up and help them get involved.

In addition to our nominal yearly membership donation, we also have the suggested donation of $1.00 or more for every trip through the center. This is to supplement the membership donations since we are no longer receiving revenue for our material. As our success increases, our expenses increase.

We are also meeting with the City and County in the upcoming weeks to discuss the direction recycling needs to go for the future. The State has announced this year's grant and we are already making steps to have it submitted well before the deadline. Many people have asked how they can help keep the program alive. You can help by letting the local elected officials and State elected officials know that Paducah/McCracken County residents want their support for a recycling program. Please let them know in a respectful and courteous way.
